The week gone by was filled with a lot of action happening in the Indian automotive industry with a lot of highly anticipated car launches, car unveilings, spy shots, and plenty of teasers of the upcoming cars. From Tata and Renault launching their SUV-coupes to new Lamborghini and Mercedes-Benz models, the week saw a host of cars being launched in the market. MG and Mahindra also teased the upcoming Windsor EV and Thar Roxx respectively. Let's take a detailed look at all the top news highlights of the past week.
Mahindra is gearing up to bring in the highly anticipated Thar ROXX on August 15. This new model is a more upscale version of the Thar, featuring an elongated wheelbase and five doors. Previously, Mahindra unveiled the exterior design of the Thar ROXX, but the latest teaser offers a glimpse into its interior. MG is ramping up its teaser campaign for its upcoming major release in India, the Windsor EV. Earlier, MG had teased a video showcasing the Windsor EV being tested in higher altitude regions of the country. Tata Motors launched the much-awaited Tata Curvv EV, with prices starting at Rs 17.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Similar to other Tata electric vehicles, the Curvv EV offers two battery-pack options: a 45 kWh (Medium Range) and a 55 kWh (Long Range) version. Mercedes-Benz is continuing its aggressive launch strategy in India, introducing two new models: the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe and the Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet. Maruti Suzuki India has issued a recall for the Alto K10 due to a potential defect in the steering gearbox assembly. The recall affects approximately 2,555 units of the hatchback. The company will be reaching out to the owners of the impacted vehicles to inspect the part and, if necessary, replace it at no charge. In less than five years of operation in India, Kia has achieved a remarkable milestone by selling 10 lakh vehicles in the Indian domestic auto market. The Kia Seltos has been the top performer, contributing over 48 percent of the company’s overall domestic sales.
