Most of these new features are expected to be introduced in the ICE-powered Punch when it gets a facelift down the road

Tata is aiming to start the new year with a bang by introducing the new Punch EV, which is based on Tata’s newest Acti.EV platform. While the technical specs are not yet known, the Punch EV will get a new fascia as well as a slew of features to differentiate it from the regular Punch. We have made a list of top 10 features that the Punch EV comes with compared to the regular ICE-powered Punch:

Projector LED headlights

Tata has offered new LED projector lamps as standard on the Punch EV compared to the halogen projector units offered with the regular Punch. These LED units mesh well with the new front and look inspired from the larger Nexon EV. As part of the lights, the Punch EV gets LED DRLs, and a full-width LED strip with welcome and goodbye animations.

10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment

The Punch EV now comes with a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that has much slicker graphics than the regular Punch’s 7-inch unit. It gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car tech and comes with the Arcade.ev feature which allows the user to use many apps while the car is charging.

The Punch EV features one more feature from its larger Nexon EV sibling - the 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. This is a stark upgrade from the Punch’s existing semi-digital unit. That said, the digital display will be reserved only for the highest-spec Punch EV. Nevertheless, this is a segment-first feature as well.

Six airbags

Aligning with the new norms for cars, the Punch EV will boast 6 airbags. This will be complemented with other safety features like electronic stability control (ESC), ABS, and rear parking sensors.

Ventilated front seats

The shocker amongst all these features is perhaps the front ventilated seats. The Punch EV will get this segment-first feature to improve the comfort of front occupants. Like the digital instrument cluster, the ventilated seats are also expected to be available on the top-end trim only.

Electronic parking brake

While the standard Punch gets a traditional parking brake, the Punch EV will get an electronic parking brake, with an auto-hold feature. The latter is very useful especially when driving in stop-and-go traffic, considering this is an automatic.

360-degree camera

One more feature trickling down from premium cars to regular mass-market cars is the 360-degree camera. While Punch is quite city-friendly when it comes to size, the 360-degree camera is bound to make driving in close quarters and tight traffic spots much easier.

Wireless phone charger

Another feature that is not available on the regular Punch but on the Punch EV is the wireless phone charger. This feature too is also limited to the higher-end trims and is useful when you’re using wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Leatherette seats

To improve the cabin experience of the occupants, the Punch EV gets leatherette seats. Meanwhile, the ICE variants of the Punch get only leather steering wheel and gear selector cover, while the seats rely on fabric upholstery.

Air purifier with AQI display

The new Punch EV will get an inbuilt air purifier with AQI display on the main infotainment screen. Thanks to this, the car occupants will be able to notice the improved air quality inside the car vs that on the outside.
