The past week in the Indian car market was lively and buzzing with new unveils, reveal of two much anticipated Tata SUV coupes, unveiling of a Skoda Kodiaq rival, crash test results of an India-bound SUV, timeline revealed for the Mahindra Thar 5-door’s debut in India and an update for Hyundai’s micro-SUV. Nissan has unveiled the fourth-generation X-Trail, which will be launched on our shores in the coming weeks. The SUV will be offered as a fully imported unit, and is expected to be priced upwards of Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom). The third generation of the Renault Duster (Dacia Duster), which is expected to be launched in India in 2025, has been crash tested at Euro NCAP. It has scored an average 3-star rating, with a score of 28.1 out of 40 points for adult occupants safety and 41.6 out of 49 points for child occupant safety. Citroen will be unveiling the India-spec Basalt SUV coupe in August. Porsche has introduced new entry-level variants for the Macan EV, which now starts at Rs 1.22 crore (ex-showroom). The new base variant gets a 100 kWh battery pack paired with a single rear axle motor making 360 PS and 563 Nm. The new mid-spec Macan 4S variant produces 516 PS and 820 Nm.
