The previous week saw spy shots coming from across the country of the upcoming Kia Carens facelift, Kia Carnival facelift and the Hyundai Alcazar facelift. Along with that, a new variant of the Skoda Kushaq was also unveiled, while Jeep revised the Compass’ pricing. Two new BNCAP crash test results were also announced and here’s a look at all the top new of the past week:
The Kia Carens is soon going to get a mid-life update and the facelift version has been spied testing on Indian roads ahead of its global debut. The facelifted Carens will get redesigned styling along with few feature additions. Even though the papped mule was under wraps, it did reveal new design cues and you can check them out here.
The Jeep Compass received a revised price list across its variant line-up. The base Sport variant has now become more accessible by a massive price drop of Rs 1.7-lakh and now starts at Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom). However, all the variants above the Sport trim now get Rs 14,000 more expensive than before. You can know more about the revised pricing across the line-up here.
Mini has started taking bookings for the upcoming 2024 Mini Cooper S, ahead of its launch which will take place in the coming weeks. The new Mini Cooper gets revised styling both for the exterior and interior and is likely to get a 204 PS and 300 Nm 2-litre turbo petrol engine mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission for the Indian market. Skoda has introduced a new entry level variant with an automatic transmission for its compact SUV, the Kushaq. The Onyx variant which was earlier limited to a manual transmission, has now been introduced with an automatic transmission and few feature updates. It is priced at Rs 13.49 lakh (ex-showroom), undercutting the previous entry level Automatic variant by Rs 2.35 lakh. Read more on it here.
Hyundai has released a few teaser images of its upcoming smallest EV, the Inster, which is the EV version based on its Casper model sold overseas. The Inster EV gets design pixel-design elements as found in the Ioniq 5 and boasts a WLTP claimed range of 355 km. Read more about the Hyundai Inster here.
Tata’s Nexon EV and Punch EV have scored 5-star ratings at the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP) crash tests. While the Tata Punch EV scores as the safest car to be tested by BNCAP, the Nexon EV has the lowest adult protection score out of all the Tata cars tested by BNCAP. Kia India has set a sales milestone of exporting over 2.5 lakh cars overseas . The overall export sales consists 59 percent of the best-selling Seltos SUV, 34 percent of the Sonet subcompact SUV and 7 percent of the Carens MPV. Read more about it here.

The upcoming 2024 Kia Carnival facelift has been spied again under heavy camouflage, being tested at higher altitude regions of our country. The updated MPV first broke cover back at the 2023 Auto Expo and carried a completely refreshed design language.
