The Indian motorcycle market has been bustling with activity and this year was particularly an exciting one for motorcycle enthusiasts in the country as many manufacturers launched new models in the 201cc to 700cc range, offering a wide variety of options for riders.

Some notable launches in this category include the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, Zontes 350T ADV, and the Keeway K300 R. These motorcycles are known for their blend of performance, style and practicality, making them perfect for city commuting and long-distance touring.

Several other manufacturers also introduced updated versions of their popular models in this category. Here's a closer look at all of them.

Royal Enfield

Scram

Royal Enfield introduced a friendlier alternative to the Himalayan on March 15. The Scram 411 is essentially a stripped-down, road-biased Himalayan that’s a lot easier to ride. It features a smaller  19-inch front wheel and does away with the headlight brace, windshield, luggage rack and even the multi-dial console. At Rs 2.03 lakh (Rs 11,000 cheaper than the Himalayan) here’s what the bike has to offer

Hunter 350

By far the most anticipated launch of this year, the Royal Enfield Hunter 350. It’s the third bike based on Enfield’s new J-platform and there’s a lot to like. For starters, it’s the most affordable Royal Enfield you can get your hands on – Rs 37,446 less expensive than even the Classic 350. It features a teardrop-shaped fuel tank with knee recesses and a single-piece seat giving the bike a proper retro-roadster appeal. It’s also 14kg lighter than the Classic 350. The newly launched Honda CB300F draws power from a 293cc air-oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 24.47PS at 7500rpm and 25.6Nm at 5500rpm, mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch. It draws its design cues from the CB500 and gets a decent set of features too. Here’s a detailed article on the CB300F.

KTM

RC 390

Earlier this year, KTM launched the much-awaited 2022 RC 390 in India. It’s a completely new bike with race-inspired graphics. It gets new bodywork claimed to be more aerodynamic, improved ergonomics, all-LED lighting system with integrated blinkers, a full TFT console, a larger fuel tank and a host of safety features. More details on the supersport here. KTM also introduced a new MotoGP colour scheme for the RC 390, head here to check it out.

Zontes

Chinese bike maker Zontes entered the Indian 350cc motorcycle segment with its affordable lineup of bikes. The Zontes 350R is a streetfighter while the 350X is a road-biased tourer based on the 350R. As for the GK350, it’s a proper roadster, while the 350T is an ADV. The 350T ADV on the other hand features tubeless spoked wheels. The entire range is powered by the same liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed gearbox. Head here for the pricelist.

QJ Motor

QJ Motor officially set foot in the Indian market in 2022 with four new products – the SRC 250, SRC 500, SRV 300 and SRK 400. The SRC 250 is a classic-style motorcycle while the SRC 500 is a cruiser pegged to go up against Royal Enfield Classic 350 but with a larger 500cc mill.

The SRV 300 is a neo-retro cruiser powered by a V-twin motor. The QJ Motor SRK 400 clearly has the KTM 390 Duke in its sights when you look at its spec sheet. It’s Rs 62,770 more expensive than the 390 Duke, but considering it’s a CKD bike and that it comes with a parallel twin mill, the premium tag is justified to some extent. How much do they cost? Head here to find out.

Keeway

K-Light 250V, Sixties 300i and Vieste 300

Hungarian auto manufacturer Keeway forayed into the Indian two-wheeler market with three new offerings, the K-Light 250V, Sixties 300i and Vieste 300. The K-Light 250V is a V-twin cruiser with muscular styling. Its engine produces 18.7PS and 19Nm.

The Sixties 300i is a neo-retro scooter with a quirky design. It features a single-cylinder engine which is the most powerful in its segment. It also comes with dual-channel ABS as standard.

Next up is the Keeway Vieste 300, a proper maxi-scooter. It features twin fascia-mounted LED headlights setup along with a long windshield. It shares its powertrain with the Sixties 300i. Head here to read about all three two-wheelers in detail.

K300R and K 300N

Further strengthening its portfolio are two sport options, the K300R and K 300N. Powering both bikes is a 292.4cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine producing 27.5PS and 25Nm. The K300 R features the supersport design while the K 300N gets a streetfighter design. More details available here.

V302C

Stepping up the cruiser game is the new V302C, essentially the Benda BD300. It’s designed to be muscular with fat tyres, chopped fenders, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, wide handlebars, simple side panels, low, contoured seat, and more importantly, a liquid-cooled V-twin engine. Here’s everything you need to know

Triumph Tiger Sport 660

Triumph launched its most affordable tourer, the Tiger Sport 660 in India this March. While it’s based on the Trident 660, it gets its own distinctive styling, with a split LED headlight and fairing, tall windscreen revised ergos, and pannier mounting points. It even has a sharper rake/trail and a longer 1,418mm wheelbase for better stability. Head here for more information.

Overall, the year 2022 has been an exciting one for the Indian motorcycle market, with a host of new and updated models hitting the roads. Whether you're a seasoned rider looking for a new set of wheels or a newcomer to the world of motorcycles, there's a bike that's perfect for you in the 201 to 700cc range.
