The Indian consumer’s growing inclination towards SUVs has resulted in a boom in the sales figures over the past few years. With the constant growing demand of SUVs in our country, various automakers are offering their products in the compact and full-size SUV segment. In this article, we list down the top 5 best performing SUVs sold in the month of June 2024.

Tata Motors' micro SUV continues to be a popular choice among Indian car buyers, consistently leading in sales. In June 2024, it claimed the top spot in the SUV sales chart. However, it experienced a 3.75% decrease in month-on-month sales, with 18,238 units sold. Notably, the sales figures include both the Punch and Punch EV models. As opposed to last year, the sales grew tremendously by 65.9 percent.

The Tata Punch is powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 88 PS and 115 Nm. The Punch is also offered with a factory fitted CNG powertrain option which puts out 73.5 PS and 103 Nm. There are two gearbox options on offer, a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed AMT automatic transmission.
It gets feature niceties such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 6-speaker premium Harman Kardon sound system, a single-pane sunroof, and cruise control. On the safety front it gets dual airbags, ABS with EBD, a reverse parking camera with sensors, and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
The Tata Punch EV gets two battery pack options (25 kWh and a 35 kWh). With the 25 kWh battery pack, the Punch EV’s e-motor produces 82 PS and 114 Nm, and gets a claimed range of 315 km. The larger 35 kWh battery pack is paired to a motor that generates 122 PS and 190 Nm with a claimed range of 421 km.
The Punch EV is feature loaded up to the brim and is equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, and a single-pane sunroof. Safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD, as standard along with electronic stability control, an electronic parking brake with auto hold function, and a 360-degree camera with parking sensors.
The Hyundai Creta secures the second position in this list with over 16,000 units sold in the month of June. In comparison to the previous month, the sales grew more than 10 percent. The year-on-year sales grew by 12.7 percent. These sales figures also include the performance-focused 'N-line' variant, which comes exclusively with a 160 PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine.

The Hyundai Creta is offered with three engine options to choose from. The first is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 115 PS and 144 Nm which can be paired to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic transmission. The second option is a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine churning out 160 PS and 253 Nm mated to a 6-speed manual (N Line only) and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Finally, a 1.5-litre diesel engine which delivers 116 PS and 250 Nm can be opted, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
The new Hyundai Creta features an overhauled design for the exterior and interior. It is feature rich with niceties including a 10.25-inch infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 360-degree camera with front and rear parking sensors, and ADAS features such as emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist.
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza saw a slight dip in its sales figures (approximately 7.6 percent) when compared to the sales of the month of May,2024. The year on year sales grew by 24.5 percent with over 13,172 units sold pan India in June 2024.

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza gets a sole 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that churns out 103 PS and 137 Nm. This engine option can be mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. A factory fitted CNG option is also offered in the Brezza, which produces 88 PS and 121.5 Nm, and can only be opted with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The Scorpio moniker has been one of the highest selling Mahindra’s and takes the fourth spot in this list of top selling SUVs. In comparison to May, 2024, the month-on-month sales dipped by 11.4 percent but the year-on-year sales grew by a whopping 42 percent with 12,307 units sold (Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N combined).

The Mahindra Scorpio Classic gets powered by a single 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine which produces 132 PS and 300 Nm. It only gets a 6-speed manual transmission on offer. The feature niceties encompass a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system ( unfortunately without Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity), an automatic climate control unit and cruise control. On the safety front, it gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, seatbelts for all occupants and rear parking sensors.
The Mahindra Scorpio N gets two engine options. It gets powered by a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel unit producing 132 PS and 300 Nm while higher-end versions get a more powerful tune of 175 PS and 400 Nm. The second engine option is a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine which produces 203 PS and 380 Nm. Additionally, an option of 4-wheel drivetrain is available with the diesel engine.
The Mahindra Scorpio N features all the current age bells and whistles like an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12-speaker Sony premium sound system, wireless phone charging, a single-pane sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, and even cruise control. Safety tech includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and hill hold assist.
Ever since its launch, the Nexon has been one of Tata’s highest selling SUVs and stacks up on the fifth position of our sales chart. With over 12,066 units sold (Nexon and Nexon EV combined) in the month of June, 2024, the sales grew by 5.3 percent over the previous month of May, 2024. On comparing it to last year, the sales have dipped by a slight margin.

The Tata Nexon gets multiple powertrain options. A 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine (115 PS and 260 Nm) can also be had with the option of a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AMT automatic transmission.

The Tata Nexon EV is offered with two battery pack options. A smaller 30 kWh battery pack enables the single motor to produce 129 PS and 215 Nm, and gets a claimed range of 325 km on a complete charge. With the larger 40.5 kWh battery pack mated to a single motor, it churns out 143 PS and 215 Nm, and gets a claimed range of 465 km on a full charge.
Along with all the features included in the ICE counterpart, the Nexon EV gets a premium JBL surround sound system and a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
