Toyota has recently launched its Maruti Fronx-based crossover, called the ‘Urban Cruiser Taisor’. The Taisor crossover has marked Toyota’s re-entry into a fiercely competitive segment where the Nexon is a popular choice among customers. Therefore, let’s see how Toyota’s latest offering compares with one of the most popular choices in the segment, the Nexon, in terms of price, features and specifications.
Let the game begin!
Note: Since the Urban Cruiser Taisor is available with petrol engine options, it makes sense and is fair to compare it with the petrol version of the Nexon.

Rs 11.8 lakh (MT) - Rs 13.10 lakh (DCA) |
As we can see, both the cars are similarly priced in the variants mentioned above. However, if you intend to make your Nexon look stealthier, there is the option of an all-black Dark Edition, which you can buy for an additional premium.

In terms of boot space, the Nexon once again beats the Taisor with an impressive boot space capacity of 382 litres.

Both the Taisor and Nexon get three-cylinder turbo-petrol engines. That said, the Tata’s unit is more powerful and torquier than the Toyota Taisor. The Nexon’s turbo-petrol engine also offers you three transmission options, including a dual-clutch automatic. In the Taisor, your choices are limited to two: a manual and a torque converter.
The Nexon also offers you the choice of a 1.5-litre diesel engine (by paying an additional premium) for those looking for a frugal option. In the Taisor, you get the choice of a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine as well as a CNG powertrain, but limited to the lower-end variants.
Both the cars come loaded with all the features one would need, have the looks to pull customers and offer decent power from their turbo-petrol engine.
The Tata Nexon is slightly larger, has a bit more features to make you feel that extra special and offers multiple transmission choices that adds to its appeal. On the other hand, the Taisor though slightly smaller, looks sportier and, as expected from a Toyota/ Maruti product, will work reliably as expected.
In fact, you won’t go wrong with either of them and it boils down to your personal preference. Which car would you pick? Let us know in the comments.
