Tata Motors had been proactive throughout 2022, with special-edition models, concepts and new EVs introduced. We expect the trend to continue in 2023, given that the carmaker has several new models in the works that are likely to be launched sometime during the year.
Here’s what Tata has in store for the new year:
The all-electric Punch has been confirmed already and we could get to see it at Auto Expo 2023. It’ll slot neatly between the Tiago EV and Nexon EV, powered by the same Ziptron powertrain as the carmaker’s other EV models. Similar to the smaller Tiago EV, the Punch EV could get standard-range and long-range variants with up to 300km of claimed range.
Tata will give its mid-size Harrier a facelift this year for the first time. Apart from revised aesthetics, the SUV should also get an updated features list with equipment such as a 360-degree camera and driver-assistance tech. In addition, its larger sibling, the Safari, should receive similar cosmetic and equipment updates.
Tata’s electric lineup already consists of multiple relatively affordable compact cars, but a larger electric SUV should be on its way. The Harrier-based, Hyundai Creta-sized EV is expected to be showcased at Auto Expo 2023, slotting above the Nexon EV Max in Tata’s EV lineup.
With a renewed focus on flex-fuels and alternative fuels in India, factory-fitted CNG cars are becoming more commonplace. Tata already offers the Tiago and Tigor with CNG, and in 2023, the Punch, Altroz and Nexon are expected to get the option as well.
These are the confirmed models that we expect to be launched or at least unveiled this year. In addition, we could also see a near-production version of Tata’s Curvv EV concept, before it hits the roads in 2024.
