Pune-based Tork Motors is all set to launch its first electric bike, the Tork Kratos, in India in the last week of this month. The Tork T6X has been renamed Kratos, and here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming electric motorcycle:
Bookings, deliveries, expected pricing and rivals:
Bookings will commence soon after the launch. The launch event will happen virtually, and the bookings will also be online. The company says it will start deliveries within a couple of months. While the Tork T6X was priced at Rs 1.25 lakh, expect the Kratos to be priced at Rs 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom). It will essentially be a more performance-packed alternative to the Revolt RV400.
Loaded with geeky features:
The made-in-India Tork Kratos comes with a proprietary operating system called Tork Intuitive Response Operating System (TIROS) that manages critical functions, such as power management, real-time power consumption, data compilation on every ride, and range forecasts. The bike also gets 4G connectivity and fast-charging capabilities. The lighting system is all-LED, and the bike gets a revised split-seat setup for more comfort.
Other features, including navigation, anti-theft, geo-fencing, and smartphone charging port, are expected to be carried over from the Tork T6X.
Performance equivalent to a 150cc bike?
The Tork T6X was powered by a 6kW (peak power) DC axial flux motor, producing 27Nm. The company claimed a top speed of 100kmph and a range of 100km, which are pretty decent numbers in themselves. Tork now says the Kratos gets a bigger battery pack offering better range and faster charging. For reference, the T6X could be charged up to 80 percent in an hour. The battery pack gets an aluminium alloy casing, and it is IP67-rated for optimum protection against water ingression.
Modern underpinnings:
The trellis frame has also been redesigned, and the motorcycle features a telescopic front fork, rear monoshock, and disc brake at both ends (with regenerative braking system). The alloy wheel design in the test mule is similar to the Bajaj Pulsar RS200 / NS200.
Tork Motors is also working on establishing a new headquarter and a new manufacturing plant. Details are scarce at the moment, but expect more information on this at the launch event. Going forward, the company will also be establishing a network of fast-charging stations across the country. With all these in the works, we hope Tork Motors delivers on its promises.
