Let’s all admit that the premium end of Toyota cars is on the pricier side. The Hilux is a perfect example of that. But in what comes as a surprising move,Toyota India has slashed the prices of its pickup truck to make it a more value-for-money option. That said, the price decrease is just for the base trim as the top-end trims, on the other hand, have seen a price increase.
Here’s a detailed look at the variant-wise price list of the Toyota Hilux:
Variant |
Old Prices |
New Prices |
Difference |
STD MT |
Rs 33.99 lakh |
Rs 30.40 lakh |
- Rs 3.59 lakh |
High MT |
Rs 35.80 lakh |
Rs 37.15 lakh |
+ Rs 1.35 lakh |
High AT |
Rs 36.80 lakh |
Rs 37.90 lakh |
+ Rs 1.1 lakh |
As you can see above, the base STD trim is now more affordable by a whopping Rs 3.59 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other hand, the higher-end High trims are now pricier by up to Rs 1.35 lakh. With this move, the price difference between both the trims is around Rs seven lakh.
The Hilux is Toyota’s lifestyle pickup truck with butch looks and tough-as-nails underpinnings. It gets the Fortuner’s 204PS 2.8-litre diesel engine, teamed with either six-speed manual or torque converter automatic transmissions. And to know what all features the Hilux packs, check out our detailed ‘variants explained’ story, where we explain what each trim gets.
With this move, the Hilux now makes for a more tempting option than ever for those who want a reliable and bullet proof off-roader. That said, it’s still a more premium alternative to the Isuzu V-Cross.
