Toyota has introduced a new Limited Edition of the Innova Petrol with prices starting from Rs 17.45 lakh (ex-showroom). It builds on the base-spec GX trim at no additional cost and adds a tyre pressure monitoring system, wireless charging and head-up display along with the standard features.

The limited edition can be had with the 2.7-litre petrol unit (making 166PS and 245Nm), paired with either a five-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The edition is exclusive to the base-spec petrol-powered GX trim.

The new edition has surfaced just days after Toyota halted bookings for the diesel-powered variants of the Innova citing excessive demand. With Toyota foraying its hybrid tech into the mass market segment of India, the carmaker is likely to replace the MPV’s diesel powertrain with a strong-hybrid powertrain. The strong-hybrid MPV, likely to be called the Innova Hycross, is expected to make its global debut later this year.

The standard petrol-powered variants of the Innova are priced from Rs Rs 17.86 lakh to Rs 23.83 lakh (ex-showroom), while the diesel variants were sold between Rs 18.90 lakh to Rs 26.54 lakh (ex-showroom). Toyota’s MPV has no immediate rivals, but the Kia Carens and Carnival can be considered as its alternatives.
