The Toyota Rumion, which is essentially a rebadged Maruti Ertiga gets a new G automatic variant at Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom). Earlier, the automatic gearbox was only available in the base S variant and the top-spec V variant, leaving the mid-spec G variant with only a manual gearbox. Do note that bookings for the new variant are now open and deliveries are to commence from May 5, 2024.
Here’s a look at where the new automatic variant sits in the lineup:
Variants |
S AT |
G AT (New) |
V AT |
Price (ex-showroom) |
Rs 11.94 lakh |
Rs 13 lakh |
Rs 13.73 lakh |
As seen in the table above, the G AT is placed right between S AT and V AT variants of the Rumion. Another thing to note is that the G AT is Rs 1.4 lakh more expensive than the G MT variant which is priced at Rs 11.6 lakh (ex-showroom).
The G AT variant gets most of the essentials such as a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, keyless entry, automatic climate control, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car features, height adjustable driver’s seat, and front fog lamps. Being a mid-spec variant it misses out on features like the cruise control, and reverse parking camera.

Safety features include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Hill Hold, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and rear parking sensors. It misses out on side airbags.
The G AT variant is powered by the familiar 103PS 1.5-litre petrol engine with a mild hybrid system. The said automatic gearbox is a 6-speed torque converter. The other option is the 5-speed manual which is offered across all variants.
The Toyota Rumion rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, while providing a more affordable alternative for the Kia Carens and Toyota Innova Crysta.
We think that the new variant will give the customers a sweet spot between the features on offer and the slightly affordable pricing when compared to the top-end variant. Do let us know your thoughts on this new automatic variant launched by Toyota.
