Both cars pack impressive performance for their size and to put into perspective, here’s a list of cars that the Taisor beats, which are beyond its segment.

The least powerful car in the list is the Toyota Taisor, but it does boast a slightly better torque figure compared to the Maruti Grand Vitara/Toyota Hyryder’s mild-hybrid powertrain.

If you notice, all these cars are bigger, and sit a segment above, yet the Taisor doesn’t look too far behind the lot. Will it matter in the performance test? Let’s find out:

Performance test

• The Taisor sports a quickest 0-100kmph time, beating the Elevate, Grand Vitara, Slavia, Taigun, And Kushaq. That’s despite the power deficit compared to the other cars on this list.

• It’s even quickest in the quarter mile test, clocking it in 17.67 seconds, while doing 127.17kmpl. The next closest thing is the Skoda Slavia AT with a time of 17.75 seconds.

• In the braking test, however, the Toyota Taisor takes up the last spot with a stopping distance of 42.81m. The Elevate is the winner in this parameter.

Price and takeaway

The Toyota Taisor was always going be cheaper than the whole lot, that was the whole point of this story – to put its remarkable performance into perspective. So if you just want a small peppy little SUV, then the Toyota Taisor is the one for you. 

But moving beyond the performance parameters, the other SUVs in this list will provide you with a better overall experience, thanks to their bigger dimensions that correspond to more space inside. The features and even the quality of materials inside their cabin varies, and is better in these more-premium SUVs and sedans.

In fact, if you want, you can have most of these with a bigger engine option as well, but those are well beyond the Taisor’s top-spec prices. Either way, the Toyota Taisor does rather well for itself, and its turbo-petrol engine is one lovely unit!
