The Urban Cruiser Taisor marks Toyota’s re-entry into the sub-4 metre SUV segment. It’s basically Toyota’s version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx with a handful of design changes to set it apart. If you fancy one, we provide you with an in-depth look at the Taisor in 8 images.
Up front, the Taisor gets a redesigned honeycomb grille and LED DRLs similar to the Hyryder to distinguish it from the Fronx. However, the lower part of the bumper, LED headlights and silver-finished skid plate look similar to its Maruti counterpart.
The profile has the similar crossover silhouette which we are familiar with, but gets new 10-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels. The Taisor also gets the new Lucent Orange shade which is not available on the Fronx.

Moving to the rear, the Taisor gets connected LED taillamps with a distinct signature. Apart from this, it shares the same rear bumper and rear skid plate design as the Fronx.
Coming inside, the Taisor features the familiar black/maroon cabin theme we have seen with the Fronx. The dashboard layout, toggle switches for climate control, and silver/champagne highlights all resemble the Fronx. The only noticeable difference in the cabin compared to the Fronx is the presence of the Toyota logo instead of the Suzuki one.
Even the features list of the Taisor is similar to that of the Fronx and comes equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto, automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, cruise control, a multi-info TFT display, and a heads-up display.
On the safety front it gets up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control and a 360-degree camera.
In the powertrain department, the Taisor is offered with two engine options. A 90 PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT, or a 100 PS 1-litre turbo-petrol engine, which can be paired with a 5-speed MT or 6-speed torque-convertor automatic transmission. You can further configure the 1.2-litre unit with a factory-fitted CNG kit which reduces its power to 77 PS and can only be had with manual transmission.
Prices for the Toyota Taisor starts from Rs 7.74 lakh and go up to Rs 13.04 lakh (ex-showroom). Tap here to check out variant-wise pricing of the Taisor. It rivals the likes of the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300 and Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
