Germany-based electric scooter manufacturer Trinity has launched a new version of the Uranus RS in its home country. The Uranus RS is a retro-style scooter, so rounded edges are a central tenet of its design. The circular LED headlight up front is further complemented by round rear-view mirrors. The electric scooter presents an uncluttered, clean look and bears a resemblance to the Vespa VXL 125.
Under all these charming looks, the Trinity Uranus RS is powered by a 6kW (8.15 PS) brushless DC motor producing a peak power of 11kW (15 PS) and thus, the e-scooter can achieve a claimed top speed of 110kmph.
When equipped with two 2.3 kWh removable battery packs, the Uranus RS can achieve a claimed real world range of 100km. Though, a single battery setup will only let the e-scooter cover 50km between charges.
The suspension duties are handled by conventional telescopic forks up front and dual shock absorbers at the rear, while discs at both ends take care of the braking performance.
Trinity has equipped the Uranus RS with three riding modes- ‘Eco’, ‘Standard’ and ‘Sport’. Eco, which is best suited for city duties, restricts the top speed of the EV to 55kmph. In Standard mode the e-scooter can hit 80kmph tops, while the Sport mode lets the rider access all of the vehicle’s power and achieve a top speed of 110kmph.
All this comes at a cost though and the Trinity Uranus RS carries a hefty price tag of 5,799 Euros, which translates to around Rs 4.80 lakh. On the other hand, the Ola S1 Pro sold here, packs a top speed of 115kmph, has a better true range of 135km and is priced at Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom, excluding State EV subsidy).
The Uranus RS will not be heading to the Indian market, but if you’re looking for a premium electric scooter in India, you can check out the TVS iQube Electric, Ather 450X and Simple One.
