The new Triumph Speed T4 has been launched at Rs 2,17,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Speed T4 is the cheapest bike in the Triumph line-up and the more budget-friendly iteration of the Speed 400. Let’s see what each of them has on offer in terms of features:
What’s the same?
The Triumph Speed T4 and Speed 400 have almost the same setup in terms of features. Both bikes are equipped with a semi-digital instrument console, with an analogue speedometer and a digital inset which displays gear position, tachometer readouts, fuel level readouts and trip/odometer readouts. The semi-digital instrument cluster lacks smartphone connectivity and navigation, which is disappointing as almost all new bikes in the lower and same segments offer these features.
What’s different?
Knowing that the Speed T4 is priced lower than its sibling, the Speed 400, it misses out on the traction control system and adjustable levers. This move was aimed at reducing costs and making the Speed T4 more 'budget-friendly,' drawing attention to Triumph's offerings, which are typically known for their pricier, larger bikes. The 400cc line-up keeps up the higher quality standards and offers it at a much more accessible price tag.
In terms of performance, both bikes are equipped with the same 398.15cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, but their power outputs differ significantly. The engine of the Speed T4 is re-tuned to deliver a strong low-end and mid-range. However, this has led to a downsize in performance figures with it now making 31PS and 36Nm, while the Speed 400 delivers 40PS and 37.5Nm. The Speed T4 and Speed 400 have more differences than what meets the eye. Here's a detailed comparison between the two.
