TVS has sent us a ‘Block Your Date’ invite dated July 6. While the invite doesn’t mention the bike name, and just says “ #NewWayOfLife”, it is likely to be for the much-awaited Zeppelin R. Ever since the Hosur-based bikemaker unveiled its first cruiser at the 2018 Auto Expo, Indian enthusiasts have been eagerly waiting for its launch.
The TVS Zeppelin concept showcased at the expo featured a 220cc single-cylinder engine, which could be possibly derived from the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V. While the concept featured a 5-speed gearbox, we hope TVS uses a 6-speed unit. And going by how feature-rich TVS products have been lately, we can expect the Zeppelin R to follow suit. So, riding modes, smartphone connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation and TVS’ Glide Through Traffic (GTT) technology could come as standard on the cruiser.
Of course, the production-spec TVS Zeppelin won’t be as wild as the concept showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. So, the cruiser won’t get the mild-hybrid system or the camera mounted on the side of the headlight. Also, TVS might just equip the bike with alloy wheels instead of wire-spoke rims to keep the price in check.
The TVS Zeppelin R could be priced at Rs 1.60 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), which would put it bang in-between the Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise and the Royal Enfield Meteor 350.
