Lamborghini first showcased the one-off concept back in 2019.
It will be powered by Huracan’s naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10.
There are changes to the supercar to make it more rough-road friendly.
It is expected to make a debut by the end of this year.
It was back in 2019, Lamborghini first hinted at an off-road focused version of its entry-level supercar and gave it a name - Huracan Sterrato. It took them two years but the supercar is very much alive and kicking in the latest teaser video. Although it caught the attention of the paparazzi multiple times while testing, this is the first official teaser from the brand which also hints at a debut that might happen soon.
It was deemed a wild one-off concept back in 2019, with Lamborghini stating no plans to put it into production. Seems like the top bosses had a change of mind or maybe Porsche’s impending plan to resurrect the 911 Safari influenced them. Nevertheless, the teaser gives us a good idea of what to expect from the Sterrato. It looks similar to the concept shown in 2019. The obvious changes from the standard Huracan are the increased ride height and the addition of body cladding all around.
Taking a closer look at the video reveals some changes to the concept. The production version in the teaser has two auxiliary lamps on the front bumper, but it is missing the light bar on the roof from the concept. Lamborghini has retained the twin roof rails from the concept and we can see a new design for the engine cover complete with what looks like an STO-inspired roof mounted air intake. Having said that, it remains to be seen if the intake is functional or if it’s there purely for drama like the Huracan STO.
What also remains to be seen is the host of updates that were present in the concept car. Some of those include carbon shell sports seats, four-point seatbelts, aluminium floor panels and a titanium roll cage. Lamborghini is yet to reveal more technical details but the concept had an addition of 47mm increase to the ride height and 30mm to the wheel track. Since it is based on the Huracan EVO, power (647PS to be precise) comes from the naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10, complete with an AWD system. For the Sterrato concept, Lamborghini set up the AWD with more rear-wheel bias and it is safe to expect changes along similar lines for the production version.

Prices and exact launch date are still up for speculation but rumours suggest a global launch towards the end of this year. It is no surprise India is a strong market for Lamborghini. We even got the extraordinary Huracan STO. Keeping that in mind, we might just get a taste of what’s ideally the perfect supercar for our kind of roads.
