BMW Motorrad launched as many as six models in 2021, including the C 400 GT and the exquisite, eye-watering M 1000 RR priced at Rs 45 lakh. For 2022, these are the Bavarian brutes headed our way:
BMW F 750 GS
BMW Motorrad had to pull the plug on the F 750 GS in India since it didn’t comply with BS6 norms. Now, the German manufacturer has introduced the adventure tourer in its Euro5/ BS6 guise overseas, so the bike is expected to come back to our market this year. For 2022, BMW has brought back the bike in a new all-black paint job and offers knuckle protectors as standard. The 853cc parallel-twin mill continues producing 77PS at 7500rpm and 82Nm at 6000rpm.
BMW F 850 GS
The off-road-oriented sibling of the F 750 GS, along with the wild child of the group, the F 850 GS Adventure, too, could grace our shores in the second half of 2022. The F 850 GS and GS Adventure share the same 853cc engine as the F 750 GS but produce 90PS at 8000rpm and 86Nm at 6250rpm. Like the smaller sibling, the 850 twins receive a fresh dab of paint and minor revisions to their respective trims. Expect these bikes to be priced at a premium of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh over their predecessor.
Recently, BMW Motorrad and TVS Motor Company extended their partnership to co-develop and export electric vehicles. The upcoming EVs may debut in 2023, but we expect to hear some big announcements this year.
