New compact SUV will be Citroen’s third model for India.
Could be a highly localised model with styling cues from C5 Aircross and C3.
110PS 1.2-litre turbo petrol should be one of the engine options.
Automatic option should be available at launch.
Launch in 2023, prices likely to start at around Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom).
The upcoming Citroen compact SUV has been spied on for the first time. Likely to be named the C4 (possibly accompanied by the ‘Aircross’ moniker, since it’s an SUV), it’ll be the third ICE vehicle from the carmaker for India.
The latest spy shots reveal the upcoming SUV’s taller, wider stance and longer wheelbase when compared to the C3 hatchback. Its rear window design seems inspired by the larger C5 Aircross SUV, while the taillights are inspired by the C3’s.
Citroen C3 touchscreen for reference
Inside, the new Citroen SUV should offer a five-seater layout and premium features such as a sunroof, automatic climate control, six airbags and push button start-stop. The 10-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay could be carried over from the C3 hatchback.
Citroen hasn’t disclosed any details about the upcoming SUV’s powertrains yet, but the 110PS and 190Nm 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine from the C3 should be one of the engine options on offer. It’s available in a higher 130PS state of tune overseas and it remains to be seen whether Citroen will offer a diesel option as well or not. The new SUV should be available with both manual and automatic transmissions right from launch.

The new Citroen SUV seems to be a new product that doesn’t resemble other products from the carmaker that exist globally. It should be manufactured here with a high degree of localisation and thus, its prices are likely to start at around Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new Citroen SUV is set to be launched sometime in 2023 as a rival to the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and MG Astor.
