Likely to be powered by a 110PS, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine.
Could get a seven-seater layout as well.
Should get an automatic transmission option right from the launch.
Likely to be priced from Rs 9 lakh onwards (ex-showroom).
Citroen’s next ICE-powered vehicle for India has been spied once again, revealing several key details about the upcoming compact-sized SUV. It will be a Hyundai Creta rival and is expected to be launched sometime in 2023.
The upcoming Citroen SUV is significantly larger than the carmaker’s entry-level C3 hatchback. It bears familiar styling cues such as eyebrow DRLs and split headlights, alongside a similar taillight design as the C3.
The SUV is expected to get a three-row seating layout that would make it the first seven-seater from the French carmaker in India.
Standing next to a Kia Seltos, the Citroen SUV seems to be similarly tall and wide. It’ll be a compact-sized SUV that will rival the likes of the Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and MG Astor.
It’s likely that the upcoming Citroen SUV will offer the C3’s 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that’s tuned for 110PS and 190Nm in the hatchback. Unlike the C3 that’s manual-only, the SUV should get an automatic option right from the launch in addition to the standard six-speed manual gearbox.
Also, it’ll likely get more features than the relatively sparsely-equipped C3, including a sunroof, automatic climate control, six airbags and push-button start-stop. That said, the C3’s massive 10-inch touchscreen could be carried over to the SUV as well.
