Quick Highlights

  • An upcoming Honda Retro Roadster's design has been revealed
  • Bike features a similar styling as the Honda CB300R
  • Could compete with the TVS Ronin & Royal Enfield Hunter 350

We recently came across design patents for an upcoming neo-retro roadster/cafe racer from Honda. The bike features an interesting looking neo-retro design, which incorporates a few bits from the Honda CB300R. Here’s a detailed rundown of what we can expect from this upcoming bike.

Starting off with the design, it seems like Honda has decided to take inspiration from the Honda CB300R for this one. The round headlight, and sharp tank design along with the tail section seems similar to the CB300R. But this is where the similarities seem to end.

The engine is likely the one used on the Honda Hornet 2.0. Judging by the  crank case design seen in the patent images, it seems the same 184.4cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder motor which produces 17.26PS and 15.9Nm.

Moving on to the underpinnings, the design shows a single-cradle frame which looks similar to the one on the Honda Hornet 2.0. The bike gets an inverted fork and monoshock. The bike rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels, with braking duties taken care of by a petal disc brake setup at both ends.

When it comes to features, the bike could likely feature a semi-digital instrument console. Something like the one which we have already seen on the Honda CB350 platform. This will definitely help increase the retro appeal of the bike overall.

Judging by the design and what we have been able to make out so far, the bike seems promising. It could be something Honda might use to appeal to riders who are looking for a smaller capacity retro-style bike at an affordable price. It will also help the brand position itself as an alternative to the upcoming 250cc Royal Enfields.

This upcoming roadster could be priced around Rs 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom). This put it in the same price segment as the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and also the TVS Ronin.
