The new-generation Maruti Dzire, which will be launched on November 11, has already made a name for itself in the history books. It is the first ever Maruti car to score 5 stars in the Global NCAP safety crash test!
The outgoing model of the Dzire had secured a disappointing two stars in the same safety crash test, so Kudos to Maruti for working on the same and making the new Dzire much safer!
The Dzire scored 31.24 out of 34 in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 39.2 out of 49 for Child Occupant Protection (COP). This rating led to a respectable 5 stars in the former and four stars in the latter. Here is your detailed look at its crash test results:
Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test Score: 13.23
Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test: 16
In the test, the front bodyshell integrity was found to be stable and is said to be capable of withstanding further loadings as well. During the frontal impact, the protection given to the head and neck of the driver and co-driver was marked as good. The driver’s and passenger’s chest showed marginal and adequate protection, respectively. Even the knees of both front passengers received a good protection rating. The footwell area was rated as stable.
Coming to the side impact, all parts including the head, chest, abdomen and pelvis showed good protection. In the side pole impact, the chest was the only section which received marginal protection. All other sections were protected well.
The “good” rating in most of the areas resulted in the overall 5 stars secured in the Adult Occupant Protection.
As for the child Occupant Protection, the Dzire secured 22 out of 24 in the dynamic test using the child restraint systems. For the 18-month old’s front and side protection, the dynamic score was 8 out of 8 and 4 out of 4, respectively. The seat was installed rearward facing using the ISOFIX anchorages and a support leg. The child received full protection in the test!

However, the front dynamic score wasn't perfect for the 3-year old child and was rated as 6.2 out of 8. The side dynamic score was a perfect 4 out of 4. The child’s seat was installed forward facing using the Dzire’s ISOFIX anchorages and a top tether. The kid received full protection to the neck and head but limited protection to the chest.
The upcoming Dzire’s safety kit consists of 6 airbags as standard, ABS with EBD, ESC, hill-start assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ISOFIX child seat mounts and a 360-degree camera with sensors.
It is powered by a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine which makes 82 PS and 112 Nm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.
The new Dzire’s prices will be revealed on November 11, 2024. However, it has been revealed in full and you can check out its details here. The Dzire will rival entry-level sedans like the Tata Tigor, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Aura.
