Royal Enfield is actively bringing new bikes and updating its existing ones. The manufacturer is likely to showcase the bike at the 2024 EICMA in Italy. Based on the same platform as the Super Meteor 650 and Shotgun 650, here’s what we expect from the 650cc roadster:
The Royal Enfield Classic 650 has a similar roadster design as the smaller Royal Enfield Classic 350. It also gets the same design elements like a similar headlight setup, headlight ring, round indicators, mirrors, fenders, fork covers and fuel tank shape as its smaller sibling. The bike was spied with a dual-tone maroon and beige coloured fuel tank and a different Royal Enfield logo, which was trademarked a few months back. The two-piece seat, side panels, rear section, tail light and spoke wheels also look identical to the 350cc bike. Moreover, the Classic 650 comes with dual peashooter exhausts.
The Classic 650 will be based on the same Royal Enfield 650cc platform as the Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, Super Meteor 650, Bear 650, and Shotgun 650. The bike is equipped with a 648cc parallel-twin engine that makes 47PS and 52.3Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox, like the Super Meteor 650. However, the 648cc engine would be tweaked to suit the 650cc roadster’s nature and characteristics.
The Royal Enfield Classic 650 would have a similar tubular steel frame as the Classic 650, but the frame might be slightly bigger. The bike gets a telescopic fork with fork covers and twin rear shock absorbers. The 650cc roadster may use the same braking setup as the Super Meteor 650 which consists of a 320mm disc with a twin-piston floating calliper at the front and a 300mm disc brake at the rear, equipped with dual-channel ABS. The test bikes which were spied testing, feature what looks like 18-inch spoke wheels on both ends. The bike is likely to get tube tyres.
The upcoming Classic 650 may get the same semi-digital console with a tripper navigation pod as the Super Meteor 650. The console features smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth with turn-by-turn navigation. It also has a USB charging port.
The Royal Enfield Classic 650 is expected to be unveiled at the 2024 EICMA in Milan, Italy, and might launch in India shortly after, in November 2024 at Motoverse, which is Royal Enfield’s bike festival in India. It’s likely to be priced at around Rs 3.20 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
