Toyota Innova Crysta has started reaching dealerships.
It slots below the new Innova Hycross in Toyota’s lineup.
Offered in G, GX, VX and ZX trim levels with two seating options.
Gets a 150PS 2.4-litre turbo-diesel engine paired with a five-speed manual gearbox.
Launch expected in the coming days, MPV should be priced from around Rs 18 lakh onwards (ex-showroom).
Toyota’s trustworthy Innova, the second-gen Innova Crysta, will make a comeback soon as a relatively affordable alternative to the new Innova Hycross MPV. Ahead of the Crysta’s launch, units of the updated people mover have begun reaching dealerships, and here are the real-life pictures.
For its comeback, the Innova Crysta has received some styling updates. The front end gets the most changes with a new squarer grille and revised bumper setup. The new chrome grille has horizontal slates and its chrome surrounds extend all the way down to the lower part of the grille on the bumper. The fog lights and indicators are now placed at the same location lower on the bumper, with more chrome elements on the sides.
Viewed from the side, the Innova Crysta’s age-old profile is unchanged. The wheel arch and door trims are chrome; the wheels themselves are 16-inch single-tone units on this mid-spec variant pictured. The top-spec Crysta will get 17-inch, five-split-spoke, dual-tone alloy wheels.
At the rear, there are no major styling changes, and the Innova Crysta’s upright tailgate, roof spoiler and bumper are the same as the 2022 model.
Inside, the Innova Crysta stays familiar and gets the same eight-inch touchscreen and wood-finish dashboard as before. The GX variant pictured doesn’t get the wood finish or automatic AC controls that are offered from the VX trim level onwards.
Top-spec features include an eight-way-powered driver’s seat, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, second-row captain seats and the aforementioned 17-inch, dual-tone alloy wheels. As for safety features, the Innova Crysta gets up to seven airbags, stability control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, hill start assist, reverse parking sensors and rear camera.
Under the bonnet, the Innova Crysta will get its older 2.4-litre diesel engine back in an RDE-compliant, E20-ready guise. The 150PS engine will be paired with a five-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive, the only engine-transmission combo on offer.
The Toyota Innova Crysta will continue to offer a reliable workhorse, remaining an alternative to people movers such as the Kia Carens and Mahindra Marazzo. It’s expected to be priced from around Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom).
