Volkswagen India has flagged off the 1st chapter of its community-driven experience called the Volkswagen Experiences (VWe). It is a curated series of experiences, which promises to indulge you into all things VW by putting you behind the wheel of one of their vehicles and traversing across various locations. If hitting the open road and travelling in a convoy is one of those life experiences that you take pleasure in, then we’d suggest you keep an eye out because VW is cooking.
From Chandigarh to Ladakh, the first chapter of the VWe kicked off in style with 15 cars ready to hit the challenging Tibetan plateau. The 6-day expenditure would see the group travel from the city of Chandigarh, traversing across some of the highest roads in the world, before finally reaching the mountain passes that stretch into the heavens above.
The folks at VW planned the whole itinerary, making sure the members were in for an epic journey. So while making their way to the various locations, the convoy indulged in the local delicacies, including cuisine and shopping, which offered the members insights into the authentic lifestyle of the region. There were activities too including ‘outdoor survival training’ sessions. Yes, the name sounds like a do or die-like situation, but that’s how they indulge you in the true experience of the region, given that Leh’s environment isn’t exactly friendly for all.
After hitting the Himalyan ranges; driving alongside rivers like Indus; strolling through an apple orchard and devouring a lot of barbecue, the group went back to their respective homes. They weren’t empty handed, as they went back with memories of a lifetime, not to mention, the friends made along the way. If you think you missed out, fret not because this was just the 1st chapter and VW experiences will be back very soon. Until then, we’ll answer a few questions that you might have:
Why VWe?
There are a lot of brands that curate similar community-driven experiences for their customers that like to travel with like-minded folks. But in most cases, they are limited to the carmaker’s customer base only, which can be a let down for people wanting to indulge themselves in the ethos of a brand. But the VWe community welcomes everyone with open arms, irrespective of whether you own a VW vehicle or not. So a VW ride will be provided to you to drive along the journey and all you have to be is an enthusiast!

Who can travel?
To participate in VWe expeditions, you have to be between the ages of 15 to 60 years. Ofcourse, you can only be behind the wheel if you’re above 18 and have a valid Indian driving license. Each car can have upto 4 individuals, but if you’re travelling alone, you will be paired with a solo traveller, so nobody feels lonely!
When’s the next one?
While the first chapter has gone into the history books, the rest of the pages are itching for an adventure and VW will be back soon with exactly that. The next event hasn’t been put up on the calendar just yet, but stay tuned to VW’s website or social media handles for more updates.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to travel in a convoy ever before, we’d suggest you to be on the lookout for the next VWe adventure. Because all you have to do is show up at the meeting point with your luggage, and the organisers will take care of the rest. For now, you’ll have to take our word for it, but we bet you will thank us later. If you need more details, click on this link.
