Will be the third long-wheelbase model from the German automaker in India after the 3 Series and 7 Series.

BMW is all set to finally bring in the updated 5 Series in its long-wheelbase avatar to the Indian luxury car market. Scheduled to launch on July 24, the new-gen 5-series is going to be the third long-wheelbase offering from the German automaker in the Indian autospace, after the 3 Series Gran Limousine and the 7 Series.
The updated BMW 5 Series will initially be available in its 530 Li variant which will be powered by a 2-litre turbo petrol engine mated to a mild-hybrid system with a combined output of 258 PS. We at ZigWheels have had our hands on the updated 5-series before it is officially launched, and here’s a snippet of us having a go at a 0-100 kmph sprint.
The new-gen BMW 5-Series has received a complete overhaul with major design changes made to both, the exterior and interior, in line with BMW’s new design language. More sharp lines and radical creases now make their way to the design aesthetics with a large illuminated kidney grille and sharp looking headlights. It gets an option of both 18-inch and 19-inch wheels to choose from.
The interior is feature rich with a large curved dual screen setup housing a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay) and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display. Ample of ambient lighting elements have been incorporated across the interior dashboard and door trims to give it a futuristic and modern look. Other features include heads-up display, a panoramic sunroof, a premium 18-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system and wireless phone charging.
On the safety front, it gets multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, 360-degree surround view camera with parking assist, and ADAS features like emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control.
Upon its launch, it will rival the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB and Audi A6 and we expect the price to be north of Rs 75 lakh (ex-showroom).
