Royal Enfield has launched the updated 650cc retro-style roadster in India. The Interceptor 650, is now on sale in seven colourways, two of them with alloy wheels, and they come at different price points. It can hence get very confusing to zero in on one if you intend to get the bike home. So, here’s a lowdown on what each trim has to offer:
Spoke wheels undoubtedly accentuate the already-gorgeous looks of the Interceptor 650. If you want to keep your bike authentically retro, there are five colours on offer: Cali Green (New), Canyon Red, Black Pearl (New), Sunset Strip and Mark 2. Here’s how much they cost:
Variant |
Price (ex-showroom India) |
Cali Green/Canyon Red |
Rs 3,03,000 (Rs 14,186 more than before) |
Black Pearl/Sunset Strip |
Rs 3,11,000 (Rs 13,771 more than before) |
Mark 2 |
Rs 3,31,000 (Rs 16,318 more than before) |
The Black Pearl is just stunning, isn’t it? Something we could gaze at, all day long. But we genuinely think Royal Enfield missed a trick by not giving this paint scheme the full-blown black treatment. The white and black colourway on the tank with red graphics would’ve drawn even more eyeballs had the exhausts and the engine been a couple of shades darker. While we’re sad to see the Orange Crush, Baker Express, Ventura Blue and Downtown Drag colourways gone, we quite like the Black Pearl paint scheme.
While spoke wheels look beautiful, they bring the inconvenience of tubed tyres, making puncture repairs an unnecessarily tedious task. Want to save yourself the extra work? Here are two hues for you to choose from that come as standard with alloy wheels: Barcelona Blue and Black Ray, both of which cost Rs 3.21 lakh (ex-showroom India).
If you’re looking for a bike that’s more on the neo-retro side, you should definitely consider these. Along with the alloys and tubeless tyres (which handle punctures much better than the tubed ones), you also get the black treatment on the engine and exhausts, which gives the bike a hot, stealthy look. The Barcelona Blue, in particular, looks rad, flaunting orange and yellow graphics on its attention-grabbing blue-coloured fuel tank.
If you want to know what exactly is new on the updated Interceptor 650, head here. Now with our long-term Continental GT 650 gone, the ZigWheels garage could do with this one. Is anyone from Royal Enfield listening?
