Velocity Mod, a UK-based workshop, has developed a mod kit for the Yamaha XSR900, turning it into a lookalike of the iconic RD350LC. Here is all that you need to know about this kit.
First off, the kit turns the XSR900 into a full-blown 1980s cafe racer based on the RD350LC. The kit includes a retro-looking lamp cover in cafe racer style along with side panels. Apart from that, it features an entire boxy rear-body panel with a retro single-piece seat. Even the grab rail and rectangular taillights are properly old school.
The XSR900 is powered by an 890cc, three-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing a whopping 119PS and 93Nm. It is paired to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. The bike features some premium hardware like a USD fork and a link-type suspension setup. For braking, it gets dual discs up front and a single disc at the rear.
What’s more interesting is that this kit is priced at 1700 GBP (an equivalent of Rs 1.62 lakh), the same price as the Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0 in India. A rather expensive asking price, in our opinion, for what is essentially a mod kit. But can you really put a price on retro cool?
