Maruti Suzuki has announced a recall for 87,599 units of the S-Presso and Eeco. Vehicles manufactured between July 05, 2021 and February 15, 2023 have been affected. The carmaker suspects a possible defect with the steering tie rod, which could break and affect the vehicle’s steering system.
A steering tie rod is a part that attaches the steering rack to the vehicle’s steering arm. And if it goes kaput, it could affect the steering of the vehicle and might be hazardous, especially at high speeds. Considering that this is one of those parts that affect the vehicle’s handling, we would advise you to get your vehicle checked immediately.
Maruti Suzuki will call owners of the affected vehicles to drop it in for inspection. Post that, if needed, the aforementioned part will be replaced at no extra cost.
It must be noted that this isn’t the first time Maruti Suzuki is announcing a recall this year. Earlier, the carmaker recalled a handful of models over a faulty airbag controller, and before that, the Grand Vitara was called back over a faulty rear seat belt mounting.
Recalls aren’t a bad thing, in our opinion, as the brand is admitting a fault in their product and taking an effort to fix things. It's also done to ensure the vehicle's long-term safety and quality.
