Fancy taking a closer look at the new Maruti Suzuki Jimny? Well, your wish is answered, as the cutesy, tiny off-roader has reached NEXA dealerships ahead of its launch. Bookings for the upcoming off-roader have been open ever since its debut at Auto Expo 2023 and its price announcement is expected to happen soon.

The main difference between the standard Jimny and this five-door model is obviously its added length and two extra doors for rear-seat occupants. This immensely boosts the practicality of the SUV as ingress and egress is made much easier. That said, is the SUV comfy enough to accommodate plus-sized people? You can find that out by checking out this story

In India, the Jimny five-door SUV will be offered in two broad trims: Zeta and Alpha, and the top-spec trim comes well-loaded with features such as a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, cruise control, a multi-info display and button start. Safety is taken care of by six airbags, electronic stability control, and parking sensors.

Powering the Jimny five-door is a 1.5-litre petrol engine belting out 105PS and 134Nm. It can be teamed with either a five-speed stick shifter or a four-speed torque converter slush box. Plus, regardless of the variant or transmission chosen, four-wheel drive with low range is standard across the range for improved off-roading prowess.

We suspect prices of the Jimny could start from around the Rs 10 lakh, ex-showroom of course, mark. And once it goes on sale, the off-roader will lock horns with three-door iterations of the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha, both of which will get five-door iterations in the future.
