Tata has officially opened the bookings for the 2023 Tata Harrier and Tata Safari facelifts ahead of their launch. It is the first design refresh for both the SUVs since their inception. Teasers for both the models are continuing to surface online on the carmaker's social media handles and here’s what we know so far.
The facelifted 2023 Harrier and Safari will feature a revamped design inspired by the Curvv concept. Both will incorporate a full-width LED DRL light bar with welcoming and goodbye functions when locking and unlocking. At the rear, both models will boast connected LED taillights with similar welcoming function; and in profile, they will feature new alloy wheels.
Inside, they will get a heavily redesigned dashboard, featuring a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital drivers display. Other highlights will include the presence of a new steering wheel with illuminated Tata logo as well as touch-based climate controls. It will also feature ambient lighting, expected to get multiple colours, on the dashboard.
Feature list of both the cars will include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a JBL sound system, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, ventilated seats for front and rear occupants (Safari 6-seater), a panoramic sunroof, and electrically adjustable driver’s seats.
Safety will be taken care of by 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, radar based ADAS features and a 360-degree camera with parking sensors.
Underneath the hood, the 170PS 2-litre diesel engine paired with 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions should be carried forward unchanged. Plus, they are likely to feature a new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine which should be available with both manual and automatic transmissions.
Given the updates, both the models are expected to receive a price hike. The current prices for the Tata Harrier start from Rs 15.20 lakh (ex-showroom), and those for the Safari start from Rs 15.84 lakh (ex-showroom). The former will rival the likes of the MG Hector, Mahindra XUV700 5-seater, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Jeep Compass; while the latter will rival Mahindra XUV700 7-seater, MG Hector Plus, and Hyundai Alcazar.
