Here’s Your First Official Glimpse Of The Toyota Innova Hycross

• Toyota Innova Hycross teased in Indonesia, where it will be unveiled first.

Toyota has dropped the first teaser of the upcoming Innova Hycross, which will break cover in Indonesia in November. The upcoming strong-hybrid MPV has been spotted testing on multiple occasions in India and will be revealed here soon after its global debut. It’s a completely different animal from the existing Innova Crysta, which will be sold alongside the Hycross in India.  

The teaser gives a glimpse of the upcoming MPV’s fascia. Its upright nose features a large grille, flanked by dual-beam LED projector headlamps. Multiple creases on the hood add a dash of aggression to the fascia. Overall, the design is more of an evolution rather than a revolution from the existing Innova Crysta. 

What’s revolutionary about the Hycross is underneath its skin. For the first time ever, the Innova nameplate will be based on a monocoque platform instead of a ladder-on-frame, which has been the case. Another debutant for the MPV is a strong hybrid powertrain that drives the front wheels instead of rear-wheel drive which we have been familiar with. 

The engine is likely to be a 2-litre strong hybrid petrol engine developing around 190 horses. Power will be channeled through an e-CVT ‘box. And before you ask us, the Innova Hycross will skip on a diesel engine. However, there could be a base petrol engine option to lower down its entry-level price.  

Speaking of which, the Innova Hycross is likely to be priced from around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be a more premium alternative to the Kia Carens and Mahindra Marazzo.
