Toyota has introduced the all-new Camry in the Indian market at Rs 48 Lakh (ex-showroom). The India-spec model is offered in a single variant across various paint options. This generational update has brought a wide variety of changes to the sedan across the board. Here is what is new about the ninth-generation Camry. While the previous version was priced at Rs 46.17 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Camry commands a premium of Rs 1.83 lakh.
2024 Toyota Camry: New Exterior Design
The all-new Camry bears Toyota’s new design language, dominated by a large grille placed on the front bumper, slanted roofline, a low-slung stance, and a few but sharp cuts and creases. The new fascia also boasts new sleek LED headlights with integrated C-shaped LED daytime running. That said, the front end looks striking with a touch of sportiness.
The side profile, as mentioned earlier, shows off its low-slung stance, arrow straight shoulder lines, sloping roofline, and a new set 18-inch of alloy wheels. At the back, there are new and edgy C-shaped taillights and Camry lettering on the boot.
New Toyota Camry: Modern Interior
The fresh look of the cabin depicts minimalism with the instrument panel (co-driver side air-con vent) having a unique design element that is reminiscent of a guitar fretboard. Then, there is a three-spoke steering wheel, while the centre console gets a traditional-looking gear stick instead of a toggle bar seen on the new cars. Plus, there is a small touchscreen integrated into the rear-seat armrest, allowing the passenger to control music and other functions.
Not to forget, Toyota has equipped the new Camry with a new 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Unlike new-age cars which rely heavily on touchscreens for most of the features, the sedan gets physical controls to operate all the essential features, such as the climate control.
New Toyota Camry: Features And Safety
The latest generation update has given the Toyota Camry a slew of features. These features include the above mentioned screens, a glass roof, a wireless phone charger, a 10-inch heads-up display, a 9-speaker JBL sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, three-zone AC, and 10-way powered front seats with memory and ventilated functions, and powered rear seats with reclining function.
In terms of safety, Toyota has bestowed it with 9 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), a 360-degree camera, hill start assist, tyre pressure monitoring system (TMPS), and anti-theft alarm. Also on offer is Toyota Safety Sense – a suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) features. This comprises a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, rear-cross traffic alert, lane departure alert, auto high beam, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and lane keeping assist.
New Toyota Camry: Powertrain
Powering the ninth-generation Camry is a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that comes paired with the brand’s fifth generation hybrid system, which now consists of a new battery, two new electric motors, and several other changes.
The combined output of the hybrid system is 230 PS in the front-wheel-drive (FWD) version. In the International markets, there is an all-wheel drive version that produces 232 PS, which is an increase of 7 PS over the FWD setup.
New Toyota Camry: Competition
The new Toyota Camry takes on the Skoda Superb. It is also an alternative to the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, BMW 2 Series Grand Coupe, and Audi A4.
