Over a year after its international debut, the all-new Toyota Camry is set to launch in India on December 11. The next-gen Camry showcases a completely refreshed design, along with a more premium cabin and a more potent hybrid powertrain. Like the current model, it could be assembled locally and here’s a brief overview of the ninth-generation Toyota Camry.
When viewing the new-gen Camry, you will notice its exterior styling updates to be sporty but not as dramatic as those of other new-generation models. The front fascia takes inspiration from the Prius, featuring sleek LED headlights, while its large grille enhances its appearance.
The side profile showcases sharp lines, with the globally sold model sporting new 19-inch multi-spoke dual-tone alloys. At the rear, updated LED tail lights, a boot lip spoiler, and a dual-tip exhaust system further contribute to its sporty appeal.
Inside, the new Camry features a completely revamped cabin with modern amenities. It retains physical buttons for climate control, while the large 12.3-inch infotainment system occupies much of the dashboard space. Alongside the light grey and black cabin theme, the new-gen Camry is also available globally with a red and black colour scheme. It also features aluminium pedals, while its premium feel is highlighted by a leather-wrapped steering wheel and leather seat upholstery.
Apart from a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, the international-spec Camry comes equipped with features such as a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, wireless Android Auto/ Apple CarPlay, powered and ventilated seats with memory function, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, a wireless phone charger, and a 9-speaker JBL sound system.

On the safety front, it gets multiple airbags along with ADAS features like lane change assist, front cross-traffic alert, front and rear park assist, lane departure warning, and an automatic high beam system.
Globally, the new-gen Camry is offered with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder self-charging petrol hybrid engine in two states of tune. The front-wheel-drive variant produces 225 PS, while the all-wheel-drive variant generates 232 PS. Transmission option is limited to an eCVT automatic gearbox. You can expect India-spec Camry to be offered with 225 PS hybrid powertrain equipped to the front-wheel-drive system.
The current Camry in India gets a 218PS, 2.5-litre petrol hybrid engine, paired with a CVT gearbox.
The all-new Toyota Camry is expected to command a notable price premium over the outgoing model, which is priced at Rs 46.17 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon launch, it will take on the likes of the Skoda Superb while serving as an alternative to other German sedans like the Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine, and BMW 2 Series.
