If you’ve been following our news page, you might already know that BMW’s performance-oriented ‘M’ division has created its most powerful vehicle ever, the XM. Now, the carmaker has previewed its ‘Most Powerful’ SUV’s more powerful version, the XM Label Red.

BMW XM Label Red Design

The BMW XM Label Red differentiates itself from the standard SUV with a bright red front grille surround and red trim around the windows. It also gets a new set of dark five split-spoke alloy wheels with red accents and a centre cap with the minimalist new BMW logo. In addition, the Label Red variant has a new bumper with larger side air vents.

BMW XM Label Red Specs

As standard, the new BMW XM gets an M Hybrid Drive all-wheel-drive (AWD) system taking power from the twin-turbo V8 petrol engine and the plug-in hybrid system’s 197PS e-motor.

In the XM Label Red, the e-motor’s power output remains the same, but the V8 engine gets a healthy 96PS bump in power, making 585PS on its own. Combined, the SUV is good for a whopping 748PS and 1,000Nm – higher than the Lamborghini Urus S!

Standard BMW XM for representation

We aren’t sure if it’ll be quicker than the Lamborghini SUV yet, but even the standard XM SUV is good for 4.3 seconds and so the Label Red variant should be even more rapid. Moreover, the XM’s PHEV powertrain will offer an electric-only driving mode and up to 82-88km of all-electric range.

Standard BMW XM interior

The BMW XM will be loaded to the gills with premium features befitting a luxury SUV. It’ll get the BMW Live Cockpit with a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and 14.9-inch infotainment screen powered by BMW OS 8. It’ll also get a standard head-up display and a BMW iDrive system that accepts touch, voice and gesture controls.

Other features include a digital key, M Lounge rear seats with heating function, four-zone climate control, prismatic headliner with 100 LEDs and a Bowers and Wilkins surround-sound system.

As for the safety features, the BMW XM will get the latest BMW Driving Assistant with a surround-view camera with multiple 3D modes, advanced driver-assistance features (ADAS) and Parking Assistant Plus. It’ll get the most advanced suite of driver-assistance tech of any BMW M car.

As things stand, BMW hasn’t hinted at any plans with regard to bringing the XM or its Label Red variant to India. However, since the X7 flagship SUV already exists here and premium plug-in hybrid SUVs such as the Volvo XC90 Recharge have been around for a while, it isn’t far-fetched to expect the XM to arrive on our shores eventually to rival models like the Lamborghini Urus, Aston Martin DBX and Audi RS Q8. The XM Label Red is destined to enter the North American and European market in late 2023.
