New Toyota Innova Hycross will be sold alongside the existing Innova Crysta MPV.
It’ll be powered by a new 2-litre petrol engine also available with strong-hybrid assist.
Premium features such as a panoramic sunroof and 360-degree camera to be present.
Expected to be priced from Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards.
Details about the upcoming Toyota Innova Hycross continue to pour in, and now we know that for the first time, the Innova will get advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) or, officially, the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) suite. It’ll become the first Toyota vehicle sold in India to offer the advanced safety tech as not even the Fortuner has the feature yet.
Broadly speaking, the Toyota Safety Sense ADAS suite consists of the following safety features:
Pre-collision System: Prevents frontal collisions by autonomously braking in an emergency. TSS also comes with pedestrian and cyclist detection.
Dynamic Cruise Control: Maintains a constant following distance from the vehicle in front, braking and accelerating accordingly.

Automatic High Beam: Automatically dims the high beam when it senses a vehicle approaching to prevent blinding oncoming vehicles.
Road Sign Assist: Reads speed limit and other signs on the road to alert the driver on the dashboard multi-information display (MID).
Proactive Driving Assist: Assists the driver with gentle braking ahead of curves and automatically keeping the car within its lane and at a safe distance from the vehicle ahead.
A combination of the above features can be found in different versions of the TSS. It remains to be seen which of these features will be offered on the Innova Hycross. Overseas, TSS is offered on a wide range of Toyota vehicles such as the Camry, Prius, Corolla and the bZ4X electric SUV.
The Innova Hycross will get an updated features list with premium additions such as a panoramic sunroof, and likely, ventilated front seats, a head-up display (HUD) and wireless phone charging. It’ll also get a larger infotainment touchscreen and a 360-degree camera.
Based on an all-new monocoque platform, the Innova Hycross will get two powertrain options – a 2-litre ICE-only petrol unit and the same engine paired with a strong-hybrid system. The latter is expected to be the most powerful, with an output that could exceed 190PS.

The Innova Hycross is expected to be priced from Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom) upon its launch in India, which is expected to take place soon after the MPV’s global unveiling in Indonesia. It’ll be sold alongside the existing Innova Crysta, offering a more premium choice over the Kia Carens and undercutting the more expensive Kia Carnival people movers.
