With electric vehicles slowly gaining in popularity, it is only a matter of time before all new vehicles eventually would be some sort of electric. However, before that time comes, hybrid cars are a good solution to those who want new tech but don’t want all-electric vehicles. This year’s hybrid launches include MPV people movers, a supercar, a sports car and even a sedan. Here is a list of all the hybrid cars launched in 2023:
Honda refreshed the 5th-gen City hybrid with minor design changes, new feature additions and introduced a lower trim to make the car more affordable. With the prices ranging between Rs 18.89 lakh and Rs 20.39 lakh, the City e:HEV comes with a 1.5L petrol engine and two electric motors. The combined system output is 126PS and 253 Nm. Despite being the rebadged version of the Toyota Innova Hycross, Maruti Suzuki has introduced a few changes like the updated grille, signature elements inside the LED headlamps, front bumper and rear tail lamps. It comes with a 2-litre hybrid engine that develops 186PS and powers the front wheels via an e-CVT gearbox. Check out our drive impressions of the MPV here.

The new Vellfire was launched back in August 2023 with a starting price tag of Rs 1.2 crore (ex-showroom). Offered in two trims - Hi and VIP, the Vellfire comes with a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine, paired to a strong-hybrid system. The total output of the MPV is 193PS and 240Nm. The new GT 63 S E Performance is not just a regular hybrid car. It currently holds the title of the most powerful production AMG model. Compared to the regular GT63, the S E Performance variant gets new bumpers, wheels, an exhaust system and a plug-in charging port on the rear bumper as well. The 4-litre V8 is paired with a 199PS electric motor for an overall system output of a whooping 843PS and 1,470Nm of torque. Read more about the car in our launch story.
McLaren launched the Artura in India with a price tag of Rs 5.1 crore. However, the main talking point of this car is the fact that it is the first McLaren to feature a V6 engine paired with an electric motor. The Artura’s engine is rated at 680 PS and 720 Nm, while the hybrid powertrain offers an all-electric range of 30 km. In terms of numbers, the Artura can do 0-100 km/h in 3 seconds and with a top speed of 330 km/h.
The Revuelto is the most expensive car on this list with a price tag of Rs 8.89 crore. It is also the first series production Lamborghini to feature a hybrid powertrain. Being Aventador’s successor, the Revuelto has tough shoes to fill and comes equipped with a 6.5-litre V12 naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with three electric motors that puts out a total power of 1015 PS.
