Maruti Suzuki and Toyota India have recalled the Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder, respectively. This time around, the blame lies on the rear seat belt mounting bracket. In total, 11,177 units of the Maruti SUV and 4,026 units of the Toyota SUV, both manufactured between August 8, 2022 and November 15, 2022 have been affected.
Dealers of both manufacturers will be reaching out to customers for bringing in their vehicle for a checkup and if needed, replacing the part at no cost to the consumer. You can check if your Toyota vehicle is included in the recall by entering the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) details here.
Considering that this recall is related to safety, we would advise owners of the vehicles affected to get the defective part in their compact SUV replaced at the earliest.
Earlier, both SUVs had been recalled twice, once for an issue related to front seat belt height adjuster and recently, the airbag controller. Recalls are good and it’s great that manufacturers are taking the initiative to ensure that this is being done for long-term safety and quality of the vehicle.
