The Grand Vitara is Maruti Suzuki’s dig into the hotly contested compact SUV segment, currently dominated by the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Sure, Maruti might be a bit late to the party, but the Grand Vitara oozes clean styling, a premium interior, feature-loaded cabin, and fuel efficient petrol engines with all-wheel drive and strong-hybrid options.
In terms of features, the SUV gets bases covered with a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, connected car tech, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and cruise control. That said, nicer features like ventilated front seats, digital driver’s display, and a premium sound system are limited to the more expensive strong-hybrid variants.
Passenger safety is taken care of by up to six airbags, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, hill hold assist and ISOFIX child seat mounts. Tyre pressure monitoring and hill descent control are limited to the strong-hybrid and all-wheel drive models respectively.
Under the hood, the Grand Vitara gets choices of 1.5-litre mild and strong-hybrid petrol engines. The former is a Maruti unit and gets optional, segment-exclusive, all-wheel drive, while the latter is sourced from Toyota and is front-wheel drive only.
