Just like every other rebadged Maruti X Toyota model, this one too will boast brand-specific elements, and we just got a hint at them

  • Maruti Invicto teased ahead of July 5 launch.

  • Teasers reveals its exclusive design revisions, including chrome strip on grille and new hues for the dashboard.

  • To get  2-litre strong-hybrid powertrain.

  • Will only be available in a fully loaded 7-seater Alpha+ hybrid variant.

  • Bookings are underway for a token amount of Rs 25,000.

The Maruti Invicto, the rebadged version of the Toyota Innova Hycross, is inching closer to its launch on July 5. So, understandably, the flagship MPV’s teaser campaign is in full swing. The latest one has just dropped, hinting at what Maruti’s version will do differently from Toyota’s. Here’s what it reveals:

Revised front end

Just like other Maruti and Toyota rebadged offerings, this one too will sport brand-specific styling cues to set them apart. The teaser clearly showcases the chrome strip that will span the width of the grille, connecting the headlights flanking the grille - just like the one on the Grand VItara compact SUV.

In fact, here, it isn’t just limited to the grille as the strip also extends into the headlights. Previous leaked images also revealed tweaked bumpers and dual-tone alloys.

While the overall cabin layout will be similar to the Innova Hycross, the Invicto will get new shades and tones for the upholstery and dashboard. These are evident in the teaser, which gives a dekko at the chrome surrounds for the central console, in contrast to the silver that the Toyota sports.

The second change is in the seat upholstery, which despite the similar design, makes use of a different black hue compared to the brownish shade you get in the Toyota.

We’ll have to wait for any further deets on the differentiating factors between Maruti’s and Toyota’s MPVs. But we do know that they’ll share the 186PS/206Nm 2-litre petrol-hybrid powertrain along with the same e-CVT gearbox. The Toyota also gets a petrol-only 176PS 2-litre powertrain, which won’t be available in the Maruti.

Even the list of features should be identical, featuring equipment like a 10-inch touchscreen system, a fully digital driver’s display, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera, six airbags, and a radar-based ADAS system. The latter will be a first for Maruti.

The Invicto will only be offered in a top-spec, fully loaded Alpha+ hybrid variant, which will only have the option of seven seats. Considering the Innova Hycross’s top-end variant is priced at Rs 29.99 lakh (ex-showroom), you can expect a similar price tag for the Maruti Invicto. It will offer a premium alternative to models such as the Kia Carens, Mahindra Marazzo and Toyota Innova Crysta
