Launch expected around September.
We’re only days away from the Toyota Hyryder breaking cover on July 01, and the dope keeps on coming. Last week we saw a glimpse of the exterior, and the latest teaser from the Japanese marque gives us our first official look at the cabin.
The first thing we’ve noticed from the video is a premium feel in the Hyryder thanks to the soft-touch leather section on the dashboard. On top of this it’ll be a dual-tone layout with a mix of black and what seems like a chocolate brown shade.
The Hyryder won’t be short of bling either as it’s got chrome accents on the door trims, the dashboard and even around the centre console. Speaking of the centre console, this one feels fairly simplistic and functional with the layout being dominated by buttons and no rotary knobs or touch-sensitive bits.
The video further confirms the presence of a 9-inch Suzuki touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech, as well as automatic climate control. We already know a 360-degree camera is coming from the earlier teaser, but the compact SUV should also get a wireless phone charger, head-up display and a sunroof. Speaking of earlier teasers, the first video highlighted a Glanza-like front grille and other bold styling bits which you can check out here.
The Hyryder will come with the option of a 1.5-litre 103PS mild-hybrid petrol motor, and a segment-first 1.5-litre 116PS strong hybrid petrol engine. The mild-hybrid option will come with 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options with the strong hybrid getting an e-CVT. First-in-segment All-wheel drive (AWD) will be available for the mild-hybrid variants while the strong hybrid Hyryder will be front-wheel driven.
The Toyota Hyryder will also have a counterpart from Maruti Suzuki show up later as both compact SUVs are based on a Suzuki platform. That being said, they will be produced in Toyota’s plant in Karnataka, with the former’s production commencing in August.
Expect a launch for the Toyota car to take place by early September at prices starting from Rs 10.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and the MG Astor will keep the Toyota and Maruti SUVs company in the Indian market.
