The 2022 Toyota Glanza, priced from Rs 6.39 lakh (ex-showroom), has started reaching dealerships across the country. It’s offered in four broad trims: E, S, G, and top-spec V. We have now got images of the second-from-base S trim, a new addition to the lineup, equivalent to the Baleno’s Delta trim.
Here are all the details in our detailed gallery:
Up front, the Glanza’s mid-spec trim, with all the chrome touches, looks pretty much similar to the higher-spec trims. However, the headlights are halogen projectors, and fog lamps are reserved for the higher-spec trims.
In profile, the lack of chrome on the door handles and 15-inch steel wheels with plastic wheel covers is the easiest telltale sign that this is a lower-end trim. Toyota could’ve given a different design to the wheel covers, like it did for the alloy wheels.
At the rear, the Glanza doesn’t get the chrome strip on the boot lid. It still features split-LED tail lamps, though.
Inside, the main difference between the mid-spec S and top-spec V trim is the smaller 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Also, the S trim gets a more basic multi-info display instead of the coloured unit found in the top-spec trim.
Space for the rear-seat occupants is good, but amenities like rear AC vents and USB charging ports are limited to the higher-spec trims.
That said, you still get most of the essentials including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, steering-mounted audio controls, remote central locking, and all four power windows. Passenger safety is taken care of by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors.
In terms of boot space, the Glanza gets a 318 litre boot that’s capable of accommodating a fair amount of luggage.
The Glanza is powered by a 90PS 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine, paired with a 5-speed manual and optional 5-speed AMT (limited to top three trims). The latter replaces the ultra smooth CVT, and there is no mild-hybrid tech as well.
The Toyota Glanza’s mid-spec S trim, priced at Rs 7.29 lakh for MT and Rs 7.79 for AMT, makes a lot of sense as it gets all the essential features you need. However, if you can splash out a bit more, we would suggest you picking up the G trim, which gets six airbags.
It locks horns with the Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, and the Honda Jazz.
