The Hyundai Creta Electric is all set to be launched at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. It will be available in two battery pack options, paired with a single-motor setup, and will boast several additional features over the on-sale Creta. Ahead of its market introduction, here’s your first look at the real-life pictures of the electric SUV.
As seen in the pictures, the Creta EV features a subtle redesign that differentiates it from the on-sale Creta.
At the front, it now gets a closed-off grille with a charging port in the centre featuring the Hyundai logo. Then, the front bumper, which has also been reworked, boasts active air flaps in order to supply cool air to the battery. However, Hyundai has kept the same daytime running lights and headlights.
On the side, it remains unchanged except for the aerodynamically optimised 17-inch alloy wheels and distinct silver garnish underneath the doors.
The rear end of the Creta Electric is largely comparable to the current Creta, but the bumper gets a redesign. Also unchanged are the taillights.
Hyundai will offer it in 10 colour options, such as Abyss Black Pearl, Atlas White, Fiery Red Pearl, Starry Night, Ocean Blue Metallic, Ocean Blue Matte, Titan Grey Matte, and Robust Emerald Matte alongside Ocean Blue Metallic with black roof and Atlas White with black roof.
Although the interior of the Creta Electric looks identical to the model it is based on, there are some differences. There is a redesigned centre console that now has a minimalist layout as Hyundai has moved the gear selector to the steering wheel. Also on offer is a fresh dual-tone theme in white and navy blue. The lower centre console also houses seat ventilation buttons and a pair of cup holders.
The steering wheel is new too. As mentioned earlier, it sports a stalk-type gear selector. In addition, there is a new boss mode switch, enabling rear-seat passengers to move the co-driver’s seat. Speaking of which, the Creta EV gets new foldable tables attached to the front seats. In the rear, it comes equipped with window sunblinds and a pair of USB Type-C ports.
The boot space of the electric SUV stands at 433 litres, while it also offers a 22-litre front trunk (frunk).
Not only the Creta Electric benefit from features of the on-sale Creta but it also gets additional tech. It comes fitted with an in-car payment system, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, seat ventilation, a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch driver’s display with a new user interface, an electronically adjustable driver’s seat featuring memory function, and a wireless charging pad.
Hyundai has also given it the digital key functionality, such as the Alcazar. It lets users unlock the car using their smartphone or smartwatch.
Safety features of the Creta EV are electronic stability control (ESC), a 360-degree camera, hill hold control, 6 airbags, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, and a blind view monitor.
Powering the Creta EV will be a 42 kWh and a 51.4 kWh battery pack. They will offer a range of 390 km and 473 km (ARAI), respectively. The electric SUV can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.9 seconds.
It gets a single motor with different power outputs depending on the battery pack: 135 PS and 171 PS. In terms of charging, a DC fast charger can juice up the 51.4 kWh battery from 10 to 80 percent in 58 minutes. Whereas, an AC Type-C charger takes 4 hours to recharge the same battery from 10 to 100 percent.
To be launched at the Auto Expo 2025 on 17 January, the Creta Electric is likely to be priced at about Rs 17 lakh. It will be available in 4 variants, namely Executive, Smart, Premium, and Excellence. It will compete against the Mahindra BE 6, MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, and the soon-to-be showcased Maruti Suzuki e Vitara.
