Despite missing out on premium features like sunroof, ventilated seats and ADAS the Thar Roxx MX3 surprises with amenities that are unlikely for an one-above-base variant.

The 5-door Mahindra Thar Roxx, launched this August, has had its deliveries started earlier this month. With high booking volumes, waiting periods have already surged for what is arguably one of this year’s most popular launches. The Thar’s bigger sibling is available in six variants: MX1, MX3, MX5, AX3L, AX5L, and AX7L. In this story, we’ll take a closer look at an MX3 unit we were able to see in real life. Let’s check out!

Mahindra Thar Roxx MX3 : Design

Despite being the one above base trim out of the six options, it is impressive to see the Thar Roxx MX3 carrying LED projector headlights in the fascia. The DRLs and fog lamps are however missing here, which are available in the higher trims.

On the silhouette, the SUV sits on 18-inch blacked out steel wheels that lack covers, so you can go all-out with the aftermarket accessories.

The wheel arches get black cladding with the indicators integrated into it. The Thar Roxx badging is placed near the fender and the front door handles and ORVMs receive a black treatment. The rear door handle is however done in the body colour. There’s a sidestep on both sides which helps in easier ingress and egress for occupants.

At the rear, you can see a similar 18-inch spare wheel mounted at the centre which gets a cover. Like in higher variants, this trim too features the C-shaped LED tail lights, rear wiper and washer along with a defogger as well as a rear parking camera. Considering this is a lower-spec trim, these additions are really impressive.

You can have the Mahindra Thar Roxx MX3 in seven colours within the palette, namely Everest White, Stealth Black, Nebula Blue, Battleship Gray, Deep Forest, Tango Red, and Burnt Sienna.

Mahindra Thar Roxx MX3 : Interior And Features

The cabin is done in the Ivory and black dual theme and this variant misses out on the new Mocha Brown theme as it is limited to the 4WD variants only. You get black and grey themed fabric upholstery inside.

There’s an armrest with cup holders for the rear occupants alongside AC vents and a 15W Type-C USB charging port. But something that you can’t probably tell by seeing is that it doesn’t get soft-touch materials on the dashboard or doors, and makes use of hard plastics (mostly).

As for features, the Thar Roxx MX3 gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display with wireless connectivity for Android Auto and wired Apple CarPlay, an analogue instrument cluster with multi-information display, a 4-speaker sound system, wireless phone charger, an auto-dimming IRVM, steering-mounted audio controls, and manual AC.

For safety, it gets 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), all-wheel disc brakes (petrol-only), hill hold and hill descent control, rear parking camera and rear parking sensors. This variant misses out on the more premium amenities like sunroof, ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera and ADAS.
