The Toyota Glanza has been launched in India from Rs 6.39 lakh (ex-showroom) and is offered in four broad trims: E, S, G, and V. The premium hatch has started reaching dealerships and deliveries are underway as well. In this report, we’ll be looking at the new base-spec E trim via detailed images.
From the front, the Glanza’s base-spec trim looks similar to its second-from-base S trim. So, the chrome touches on the grille and bumper as well as the projector halogen headlights are present. However, you don’t get fog lamps.
In profile, the Glanza gets steel wheels with plastic wheel covers, a feature that isn’t offered in the Baleno. In the Maruti, you have to make do with steel wheels only. That said, like the Maruti, the door handles and ORVMs are finished in black and are not body coloured.
At the rear, there is variant badging to denote that this is the base-spec hatchback. No chrome touches on the tailgate, which is limited to the higher-spec trims.
The hatchback gets the same dual-tone black-beige dashboard as the other trims. However, you have to make do without an infotainment system.
No rear AC vents and fast charging USB ports in the base-spec trim. However, there is a 12V power socket for charging purposes while the lack of AC vents means you get a storage space instead.
Other notable features in this trim include automatic climate control, a multi-info display, keyless entry, connected car tech (Telematics only), manually adjustable ORVMs, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors.
The Glanza E gets a 90PS 1.2-litre petrol engine, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The optional 5-speed AMT is limited to the top three trims: S, G, and V.
The Toyota Glanza E is priced at Rs 6.39 lakh, which is Rs 4,000 more than the Baleno’s base-spec trim. Apart from the Maruti Suzuki hatch, the Glanza squares off against the Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20, and Honda Jazz.
