The Benda LFC 700 is an in-line four-powered cruiser that’ll make the big players sweat

Benda Motorcycles is one of the few Chinese motorcycle brands developing “original” motorcycles. Case in point: the Benda LFC 700, which was launched in China a few months back. The outlandish (even by Chinese standards) cruiser is one of the most radical bikes in the genre, so here’s an up close look at this revolutionary-looking Chinese bike:

While most Chinese brands are mocked for their lack of originality, it is quite the opposite for the Benda LFC 700. You’ll be hard-pressed to find any similarity between this cruiser and any other bike. In fact, it looks like a prop straight out of a sci-fi movie.

The turbine-like element on the concept made it to the production-spec bike and left a lot of us bewildered. But look closely, and you’ll spot a rectangular LED headlight right above. As much as this setup looks aesthetically pleasing, we have doubts about its functional aspects. Complimenting this headlight are the indicators integrated in the fuel tank extensions.

Going with its futuristic styling is the TFT console. Along with the usual tell-tale information, you can pair it with your smartphone for turn-by-turn navigation and call/sms alerts.

The Benda LFC 700 wouldn’t be half as interesting if it wasn’t for its engine. Powering this cruiser is a 680cc inline-four belting out 93.8PS at 11,000rpm and 63Nm at 8,500rpm. You can also opt for a “lower power” variant which still churns out an impressive 85.6PS at 10,000rpm and 60Nm at 8,000rpm. While both the variants come with a 6-speed transmission, the top-spec variant also gets a slipper clutch.

Adding to the list of polarising elements on the LFC 700 is the underbelly exhaust. The quad pipe layout is unique to this bike, and blends well with the rest of the design.

Shedding speed on this 235kg behemoth can be done via dual discs up front and a single disc at the rear. While the standard version gets Nissin units, the top-spec variant comes with Brembo calipers.

Benda hasn’t cut any corners with this bike. The LFC 700 boasts an adjustable KYB fork and a monoshock for the top variant while the standard model uses non-adjustable units from a different brand.

The Benda LFC 700 rides on a somewhat wide 130/70-19 tyre at the front, but gets an absolutely ludicrous 310/35-18 tyre at the rear. For reference, the Ducati Diavel 1260 uses 240-section rubber on the rear wheel.

The Benda LFC 700 has been priced at CNY 45,800 (roughly Rs 5.26 lakh) for the standard model, while the top variant will set you back by CNY 46,800 (or about Rs 5.38 lakh).
