Mahindra recently launched the Bolero Neo Plus with a 9-seater layout and a more powerful diesel engine than the Bolero Neo. It is available in two variants: P4 and P10. If you are considering the base P4 variant, we have simplified things for you by explaining what it offers in this report.
From the front, the P4 variant features the overall similar design as we have seen with the Bolero Neo Plus. However, as the base variant, it misses out on design elements such as chrome inserts on the grille and the front lip of the bonnet, which are blacked out. Additionally, fog lamps are not included in the P4 variant of the Bolero Neo Plus.
Overall, the profile exhibits a boxy appearance, and the P4 variant is equipped with 16-inch steel wheels instead of the alloy wheels found in the P10 variant. Additionally, it lacks side footstep present in the P10 variant for added convenience during ingress and egress.

Coming to the rear, the P4 variant features a body-coloured wheel cover for the spare tyre and a rear footstep.
Inside, the cabin features a dual-tone black/beige theme. However, the first thing that will get your attention is the lack of a music system/touchscreen. It also gets basic vinyl seat upholstery and rotary dials for air-conditioning.
The P4 variant comes equipped with the bare minimum including central locking, front and rear power windows, tilt adjustment for the steering wheel, and 12 V charging ports. It lacks amenities such as a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 6-speaker sound system, height-adjustable driver seats, foldable function for the second-row seats, and remote key entry, which are available in the P10 variant.
On the safety front, it gets ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and dual front airbags.
The P4 variant is powered by a 120 PS/ 280 Nm 2.2-litre diesel engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. It does not include the mechanical locking differential found in the higher-spec variants of the Bolero Neo.
Priced at Rs 11.39 lakh (ex-showroom), the P4 variant is available with a single powertrain and transmission choice. The Bolero Neo Plus serves as a 9-seater alternative to the Bolero Neo and offers a rugged body-on-frame option to SUVs such as the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. It can also be considered as a cheaper alternative to the Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N.
