The Hyundai Creta Electric is all-set to be launched at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. It will be available in two battery pack options, paired with a single-motor setup, and will boast several additional features over the on-sale Creta. Ahead of its market introduction, here’s your first look at the real-life pictures of the electric SUV.
When it comes to the exterior design, the Hyundai Creta Electric closely resembles the model it is based on. However, Hyundai has made several changes to the electric equivalent of the Creta to create a distinction.
To begin with, the Creta Electric boasts a distinct front end, featuring a blanked-off grille that has a pixelated pattern. In the centre, there is a charging port with the Hyundai logo. The inverted L-shaped daytime driving lights and vertically stacked headlights, however, remain unchanged from the on-sale Creta.
The electric SUV also comes with a redesigned bumper, which has active air flaps – similar to those found on the high-end electric and sports cars. They open up and help direct air toward the battery to maintain optimal temperature.
Furthermore, the Creta Electric maintains the same side profile layout as the Creta, including the body cladding. A keen eye observer would notice the different silver trim below the door.
Hyundai has also outfitted the Creta Electric with a new set of 17-inch aerodynamically optimised alloy wheels.
At the back, the Creta Electric keeps the design of the Creta with the main difference being the reworked bumper. On the electric version, the reflectors are placed horizontally, while the standard model uses vertical reflectors. The taillights layout, which inludes a light bar running across the width of the boot, remains unchanged.
On the inside, the Creta Electric is largely similar to the standard model with a few notable exceptions. First up, the Creta Electric gets a dual-tone interior theme in white and navy blue.
The interior also gets a new, minimalist lower centre console layout with distinct controls. Since the controls of the gear lever have been moved, it now opens up space, which Hyundai has cleverly used for adding a storage space. Plus, there are two cubby holders and switches to adjust front seat ventilation.
Additionally, there is a new steering wheel that resembles the one in the facelifted India-bound Tucson. Unlike the flat-bottom unit of the Creta, it sports a circular steering wheel and comes with physical controls for audio and driver display.
With this, the Creta Electric benefits from a stalk-style drive mode selector now mounted on the steering wheel column, freeing up space in the centre console.
One of the in-cabin features additional in the Creta Electric is a powered co-driver's seat with boss mode switch that allows rear-seat passengers to adjust the front seat. Here is a picture of a person in the rear seat of the Creta Electric.
The rear-seat passengers also benefit from foldable tables attached to the back of the front seats.
Moreover, there are two Type-C ports below the rear air-con vents and some storage space. Last but not least, the rear windows also feature sunblinds.
The Creta Electric has a boot space of 433 litres and 22-litre front trunk (frunk). There is also a spare tyre placed underneath the boot floor.
Key features of the Creta Electric include LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, in-car payment system, powered driver’s seat with memory setting, and an 8-speaker Bose sound system.
A 10.25-inch dual-screen setup for the touchscreen infotainment and digital driver’s display, which is a single-piece panel, has been carried over to the Creta Electric. However, these displays come equipped with a new EV-specific user interface and menu.
Another highlight of the Creta Electric is the digital key. With this, users can unlock the vehicle using their smartphone or a compatible smartwatch, whether it is running iOS or Android, just like the traditional vehicle key. In terms of safety, the electric SUV gets 6 airbags, electronic stability programme (ESP), hill hold assist, a 360-degree camera, blind sport monitor, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, and ADAS.
The upcoming Creta Electric will be available in two battery pack options: 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh, delivering a ARAI-claimed range of up to 390 km and 473 km, respectively. It is worth mentioning that the battery pack is placed on the underbody of the SUV and as seen in the picture it sticks out.
It will feature a single motor setup available in different tunes depending on the battery pack. It will also support DC fast charging, allowing the large battery to recharge from 10 to 80 percent in a claimed 58 minutes.
