Here’s An In-Depth Look At The 5 Door Mahindra Thar Roxx Exterior Design In 17 Images

The Mahindra Thar Roxx 5 door gets a whole host of styling differences to set it apart from the smaller Thar 3-door

The 5-door Mahindra Thar Roxx is finally here, with prices starting from Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Apart from its elongated length and extra pair of doors, the Thar Roxx gets a handful of styling tweaks to set it apart from the three-door version. In this report, we are going to take a proper in-depth look at the exterior design of the newly launched Mahindra Thar Roxx.

Let’s go!

The fascia has been fully revised and now features a new six-slat body-coloured grille design that takes up more real estate. Pratab Bose, the chief design engineer of the Thar, calls it a six-pack grille, like a six-pack ab on a human! Do you like it or not? Let us know in the comments.

It continues to get circular headlights, but they are now LED projector units that get a C-shaped LED DRL. The indicators continue to sit on the fender and have been upgraded to LEDs as well.

Right below all of this is the bumper, which gets contrasting silver highlights and round fog lamps that are… you guessed it… LED units. You can also notice the front parking sensor right next to it.

In profile, the obvious highlight ought to be the extended length with an added pair of doors for easier ingress and egress into the rear seats. You can take a quick look at the dimensions comparison of the Thar Roxx and the 3-door version here in this table:

The front fender houses the badging name with the ‘Roxx’ badge added below the Thar nameplate. What do you think about the Thar Roxx name? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.

The ORVM also has the ‘Thar’ name embossed in it, but look closely and you’ll notice the presence of a camera for the 360-degree surround view system. This feature isn’t available with the smaller Thar.

Rear seat occupants can access the cabin by using this pillar-mounted door handle, giving the silhouette the vibe of a three-door model.

The rear fender houses the 4X4 badge and for the rear-wheel drive versions, it’s expected to get ‘RWD’ badging.

The Mahindra Thar 5 door now gets 19-inch dual-tone 10-spoke alloys wrapped in 255/60 section tyres. Keen eyed enthusiasts will notice that the rear fender has been squared out instead of the round ones of the previous versions. The lower variants sit on 18-inch units.

Fuel filling in the Thar Roxx is all the more convenient now thanks to the presence of an electronically controlled fuel filler cap. In the smaller three-door version, the fuel filler cap is manually operated using the key, meaning you’d have to step out of the vehicle to open it every time you wanted to fuel up.

The Thar Roxx gets a black roof and C-pillar, regardless of the colour option you pick to give a contrasting dual-tone look.

At the rear, the design is more or less similar to the three-door version, albeit with a few tweaks.

For starters, the tail lamps are now all-LED units and have a slightly different design when compared to the three-door version. Zoom in and you’ll notice that they lack the Thar branding as found in the smaller one.

No corners have been cut and the Thar Roxx continues to get a full size 19-inch dual-tone alloy as its spare wheel. Look closely and you’ll notice that the rear camera has been placed in the centre for the 360-degree camera.

This is your complete in-depth look at the exterior design of the Mahindra Thar Roxx. What do you think about its overall appearance? While we can’t comment on how it looks just yet, you can let us know your opinions in the comments.
